On this page you find info about:

  • Playing and downloading the RealAudio sound clips
  • How to use the PDF-files - Adobe Acrobat Reader

In some sections of this web site, (for example "Composer") you will find icons like this:

This indicates a RealAudio clip

You need the RealAudio Player ®  (free of charge) to play these RealAudio clips.
You can find a free player at
www.real.com l there's a link on top of the page on the right side.

If you click on the blue "Real" icons on different places on my site, the RealPlayer loads, and after some buffer time the clip plays.....nice and easy. To be able to play the clips this way (streaming) you must have at least ISDN or 56k modem.

If the internet is very busy (which causes net congestion when playing) or if you have a slower modem you better download the clip to your harddisc first. After downloading you double click the file, and RealPlayer starts playing. Follow the links "info / download clip"

How to download first
In the tables on my site you come to,  you now must right-click the file name (always with the extension *.ra) and choose "save as" from the menu you get
. BTW, downloading makes it possible to play the clip again, also with closed net connection. In the Table you can also see the target rate (Ta) I have compressed the file to. A target rate of 44 is less demanding to your modem than 64 kb per second. In the same table you can see the size of the file (Kb), if you want to download it)

Minimum System Requirements:
    Windows:
    90 MHz Intel® Pentium® processor or equivalent
    16 MB of RAM
56Kpbs modem / ISDN to play the clips streaming,
slower modem is OK for downloading
    16-bit sound card and speakers
    65,000-color video display card (video)
Win 95, Win 98 or Win NT operating system

    Macintosh:
    Mac* OS 8.1 or later
    32 MB RAM
    65 MB virtual memory
604 PowerPC* (200 MHz or better)
    Internet connection
Browser support: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or later or Netscape
    4.05 or later

The Real Audio system
The Real Audio system is based on playing compressed audio files streaming, which means that the player starts playing after some buffer time whilst downloading continues. For quality reasons (distortion) I was forced to compress for a relatively high modem download capacity, which means that a slow 28 k modem  certainly not will cope with playing it, especially not with the higher 64 kbps target rate. Nevertheless, compulsory downloading first offers the advantage of saving to hard disc (In Netscape 4: right click on the *.rm files, and choose  Save), giving you the possibility of listening more then once. Left clicking causes the entire file to download before playing without saving.

How to listen:
Loudspeakers shipped with multimedia computers are often not capable of reproducing the lower organ sound, resulting in thin, ugly sound. A good headphone  connected to your sound card gives better results, and the best option is to connect the sound card to an amplifier with decent speakers. The quality of all the RealAudio clips is close to CD. My own recordings are made with SONY TCD-D3  DAT-recorder with Sennheiser MKE 2002 stereo microphone.

PDF-files - Adobe Acrobat Reader

I provide these PDF-files mainly to make it possible for you to see and print samples of my published compositions.

When you see this icon:
on my web site you can view, download and print so called PDF-files.

Just clicking the file will probably open the PDF-file in your browser window (you must have Acrobat Reader installed on your PC), but you can also download the PDF-file to your hard disc by right-clicking the icon, and choosing something like "save to disk" This varies from browser to browser.

To open the files, you need the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
The Acrobat Reader® allows anyone to view, navigate, and print documents in the Adobe portable Document Format (PDF).
Adobe Acrobat Reader can be downloaded free of charge from the Adobe Web site at
http://www.adobe.com. On the Adobe Web site home page, you can click a country name in the Adobe Sites pop-up menu to choose a language for viewing the site. The exact information in the site may vary from one language version to another. Help on using Acrobat Reader can be found when the program is installed on your computer.
