Barokksuite "Kom Jesus, lys din fred på jord"
Study in baroque composition stile

I wrote the "Barokksuite - Kom Jesus, lys din fred på jord" as a study in baroque composition stile. It is composed especially for recording with the Dutch Radio (Evangelische Omroep) on the magnificent, relatively recently restored (1993-1994) Wagner baroque organ (1741) in the Nidaros cathedral, Norway, mai 1996

The suite consists of:
Prelude – Allemande – Courante – Sarabande – Gavotte – Air – Gigue.

Baroque tuning and demonstration of the organ
In order to demonstrate the characteristic aspects of the baroque tuning of the organ more clearly, I transposed the melody from E to D. This way I could use for example the chord f-a-c frequently, listen to the Gavotte-fragment. Here you can hear the Trumpet 8 with those typical pure triads of the Werckmeister-tuning. In addition, I wanted to have something to demonstrate the colourful softer sounds of the organ with as well. For example, you can hear the beautiful Vox Homana in the Prelude, the Flutes in the Allemande and Courante, the Quintadena 8' in the Sarabande, and the Trumpet 8' + Waldflöte 2' in the Gavotte

Soundclips
You can hear fragments of all these parts, and make sure you listen to the Gigue (clip 7),  which I have understood many people think is nice.
When you click more info can also see which stops you hear.
