Road 7 across the Hardangervidda is the fastest and the best road east/west.
As soon as the government realizes this, they will finally build the Hardanger Bridge, and then the crossing east/west will be without ferries.
Regardless, the drive across the Hardangervidda is an experience you should not miss.
