Horsa Glider  DP349

                                                                          Horsa Glider.

This glider made a crashlanding at Fylgjesdal, where the two pilots and six of the commandoes died. Nine of the commandoes survived, four of them wounded. They were captured by the germans soon afterwards. The four men that were wounded, were sent to Stavanger where they were tortured and interrogated in a very brutal and horrible manner by the Gestapo, until they died from it. They were then thrown into the sea at Kvitsøy, never to be found again. They are commemorated on the Brookwood memorial.

The five remaining commandoes were sent to the german prison camp at Grini near Oslo. They were executed in the Trandum forest on 18th. Januray 1943. These five men are buried at Vestre Gravlund in Oslo, while the rest are buried at Eiganes churchyard in Stavanger.
