You may have heard a few rumours recently about a certain bass trombonist leaving our shores.
We can now confirm that, sadly, they are all true! Our beloved Camilla has gone and left us to start a new life in her native country, Norway, with her fiancé. She will be greatly missed and we would like to take this opportunity to thank her for her work over the last 3 years.
However, do not despair; after much searching throughout the British Isles
for that rare breed which is the female bass trombonist, we have found the perfect
replacement. Her name is Lorna McDonald,
she lives in Edinburgh and we are proud to present her as the new bass trombonist
of Bones Apart!
Three of the girls graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music this
year, leaving only Becky behind to finish off what she started. So on the 12th
of December all four dressed up in silly hats and gowns, three members wearing
their academic blue Bmus(hons) degree hoods, while Becky wore the white diploma
of Professoinal Performance hood. Graduation ceremonies are lengthy things as
everyone who’s ever been involved in one knows, and the fact that these four
girls had so many awards to pick up didn’t make it any shorter!

Carol: 1st class Bmus(hons), PPRNCM with distinction and PPRNCM with distinction
as a member of Bones Apart
Becky: PPRNCM with distinction as a member of Bones Apart
Becca: 2nd class higher division Bmus(hons), PPRNCM with distinction as a member
of Bones Apart
Camilla 2nd class higher division Bmus(hons), PPRNCM with distinction as a member
of Bones Apart and the Hiles Medal for Orchestral Playing (Wind Instrument)

So with that ceremony three of the members say a fond farewell to the RNCM,
while Becky will still be frequenting rehearsal and practice areas…and maybe
also the bar area
Other important events of 2001 were the 2 week very cold tour of Norway (-30
°C!), 1 week very warm tour of Jersey (+30 °C!), winning the very prestigious
ensemble prize at the Royal Oversea League music competition as well as the
Phillip Jones Award for Chamber Music at the RNCM. We had our CD played in classic
FM and we’ve given recitals in very exciting places such as the Welsh College
of Music and Drama, the Royal (Southern) College of Music, St-Martins-in-the-Field
Church in Trafalgar Square, the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester as well as at
the RNCM. But that’s all very different story
