Elisa
Barucchieri
Raised travelling
between Italy and the United States, Elisa Barucchieri graduated Magna
cum Laude,
Phi Beta Kappa from
Middlebury College, VT, USA, with a double major in Dance and Anthropology,
international major
with Italian.
She has attained
gold level certification as dance teacher by the Federazione Italiana Danza.
After a past as competitive
skier, she began dancing at Middlebury College,
under the guide
of Andrea Olsen, Peter Schmitz, Penny Campbell.
She has studied
with David Zambrano, Alwin Nikolais, Andrew Harwood,
Susan Klein, Lucas
Hoving, Michele Abbondanza and Antonella Bertoni, Dino Verga,
Tere O’Connor, Karen
Levi.
In modern dance,
she has performed for Jacques Heim, Diavolo Dance Company,
Simona Bucci, Imago
Dance Company, Elisabetta Vittoni, EVDance, Barbara Uccelli, and others.
Through a collaboration
with the Accademia Chigiana of Siena,
Elisa began studying
and working with Renaissance Dance,
for Andrea Francalanci
and Bruna Gondoni, Il Ballarino,
Veronique Daniels
of the Schola Cantorum Basilensis, Switzerland,
and becoming assistant
to Gianni de Gennaro, director of Calixtinus,
early music and
dance ensemble,
with whom she has
directed and created several performances and events,
and has deepened
her knowledge of early and ethnic music of the Mediterranean Basin,
eventually becoming
frame drum percussionist for the Ensemble Cantaiatra.
In 1999, she decides
to concentrate on choreography and modern dance,
and begins presenting
her choreographical work throughout Italy.
During this time,
the constructive meeting with Victoria Sogn
and other dancers
push her further into the choreographic journey,
and in 2002 she
is selected as recipient of the international award,
“Pegaso d’Oro” for
artistic talent, by the Federazione Italiana Danza.
In the same year,
she is also chosen for the Accademia Isola Danza,
La Biennale di Venezia,
Venice, where she studies with teachers such as Nigel Charnok,
Carolyn Carlson,
Josef Nadj, Susanne Linke, David Zambrano, Janet Panetta,
Ivan Wolfe, Benoit
LaChambre, Andrew Harwood.
She is then selected
to represent the academy in Italy and abroad.
Following the Venetian
experience, she has been called as official translator and assistant for
Carolyn Carlson
and Susanne Linke, with whom
a tight collaboration
has developed and for whom she now dances.
With Victoria Sogn,
she has founded ResExtensa,
and presents her
choreographic work with the aid and support of
Carolyn Carlson
and Susanne Linke.
As teacher, she has
pupils admitted to schools such as Folkwang Hochschule, Essen, Germany,
The Laban Centre,
London, UK, Scuola d’Arte Drammatica Paolo Grassi, Milan.
She also collaborates with Teatro Kismet O.per.A, of Bari, and with Daniele Cipriani Entertainment, Rome.
