About Tracee
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and have been singing ever since I can remember. My dad used to sit me on the mantle and I would
stard to wail, not always to the delight of my parents or the neighbors, but I cannot remember ever wanting to do anything else but sing.
When I was 17, I enrolled in the Los Angeles City College
music department and was suddenly surrounded by these AMAZING voices, including the voice of Carleen Anderson. I remember looking at that little tiny woman and wondering where the heck all that sound
came from. At one point we were in a band together, and I would be looking all down in her mouth just to see what she was doing. It is easty to doubt yourself when you are surrounded by that kind of
talent, but my will to sing was stronger than my fear of being shown up. Check out the Brand New Heavies Website and hear Carleen.
My time as a student at Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA
was one of the most magical times of my life. Nothing but music 24-7 (well, except when I had to work) I remember driving home from school, after having had 6 rehearsals, at 4am one morning and thinking
that there was no place on earth I'd rather be than MI. Check out the Musicians Institute site
I really enjoy teaching, especially when I have a student that is enthusiastic and does their
homework...I get so happy you would have thought I won the lottery. It's just that I love it when I can help someone, and That helps me feel satisfied with the work I do.
I am really
blessed to be able to make a living doing what I enjoy. The days go by fast and there is always something to learn. If I could offer only one piece of advice to singers , it would be "Don't lose the
Joy ".
Singing backing vocals is great. It's so much fun to sing harmonies and observe the creative processes of the producers. I also like singing in the studio. It's a very intimate thing.
It's very satisfying to see you name on those liner notes when the record comes out. Check out Steve Vai's website
