ISCSG interviews Ionel Gane

 

1. For how many years have you played football? 
Ionel : 16 years (professional) 

2. Were you surprised when SG wanted to sign you?  Did you knew much about SG before you signed?
Ionel : I knew little about St. Gallen but I knew about Swiss soccer and wanted to play in this country.

3. Do you have other interests beside football and St.Gallen?
Ionel : My hobbies are cinema, shopping, friends, playing tennis and listening to music.

4. What do you think about our supporters club, International supporters club of St.Gallen?
Ionel : It is great for me to know that we have supporters in Norway. Me and the team send greetings to all our fans in Norway. 

5. How was it to receive the player of the year award for the qualification round in 2001 from ISCSG? Were you surprised?
Ionel : I am very honored to receive this award, now I want to score even more goals for the fans and I hope I will still be in the race to the award next year.

6. What is your plans to do after your football career is over? Will you end your career at St.Gallen? (I hope so)
Ionel : I do not think about ending my football career now, I love this game! It's adrenalin for me ! Why not end it in St. Gallen in the far future.

7. Do you think you will stay in Switzerland after your football career? 
Ionel : I do not think so. Switzerland is very nice to live in, but Rumania is my home.

8. Do you know much about Norway? Have you ever been here in Norway?
Ionel : Ten years ago I spent 3 days in Norway about 10 years ago with the Rumanian Olympic team. It is a very nice country with very pretty women. *smile*

9. What is your best memory as a football player? (includes all clubs you have played for)  And what is your best memory as a St.Gallen player?
Ionel : Every game I score is a good memory as a junior and as a professional. Best memory with St. Gallen is Swiss Champion 2000 and beating Chelsea FC. 

10. Have you ever played for Romania? If so, how many matches have you played? If not, do you wish you could have played for Romania?
Ionel : I played 8 games for Rumania. 

11. Who is the best player you have ever played together with?
Ionel : Gheorghe Hagi 

12. How do you think SG will do in this years final round?
Ionel : I want to finish first place!

13. Do you like living in Switzerland? Do you miss Romania? 
Ionel : See question nr. 7 

14. Do you have any other things you want to add? Some comments to our ISCSG, our club St.Gallen or other things?
Ionel : Belive in St. Gallen, even if the times should be rough one day.

15. Do you want to sign up as a International supporters club of St.Gallen member? It`s free to join, and we would be very happy to have you as a member. Of course, you will become a Honour member.
Ionel : It would be a pleasure.
