BRASIL 15.11 - 29.11 2000.

The 15th of November it was finally time for our holiday and trip to Natal i Brasil. We went with Ernst's

good friend Martin and Gudbjorn from AAlesund. We had a long flight of about 11 hours ahead

of us, but Kenneth was working on the plane so we got some extra service. In Natal the first thing

that hit us was the heat, but this was what we wanted. Warm weather, sun and relaxation

Ponta Negra in Natal is a fantastic place with a quiet atmosphere. It does not have much of a nightlife,

but several restaurants and bars. In the weekends the Brazilians from the area come to Natal, and

you can experience the samba. They just park their cars along the streets, put the stereo on very loud

and dance in the streets. We went to a gay disco downtown Natal twice, and there is a lot to rest your

eyes on.

The Brazilians are very friendly. They do not know what good they can do for you. The fact that

they don't look so bad is of course no disadvantage...

The hotel we stayed at, Inga Praia, is a small and friendly hotel at the beach. The staff is very helpful

and friendly.

In Ponta Negra the beach is quite crowdy and a lot happens around it, but you can also find quiet

beaches in the area where there are no people at all. But, be careful - we got robbed at on of the quiet

beaches.

We did not go on many excursions, but the two of us hired a beach buggy car with a driver one day.

It took us around wherever we wanted to go, eg. Pipa which certainly is paradise on earth.

We would recommend Natal if you want warm weather, nice people, beautiful beaches, good food

and drinks (try the caipiroscka) and if you are not dependent of that everybody speaks English.
