- Skien Baptist church was founded on April 22. 1860 by 8 believing baptized
members. It is
the first and oldest Baptist church in Norway.
- Today the church have 213 baptized members. In addition about the same
member of children (of members) and friends of the church are taking
part in various activities.
- The Baptist church is a democratic organism. Issues are debated and
settled at monthly business meetings for the members. The head of the
church is the pastor, who is also the leader of the church
council. The latter consists of the pastor plus 6 members elected by the
church members.
- Skien Baptist church is an integrated part of The Baptist Union of
Norway (with about 5000 baptized members). In addition there are
about 6.000 children of members. The Baptist union is again part of the Baptist World Alliance, which has
more than 43 millions of baptized members and a total Baptist family of
more than 100 millions.

- The Bible is living words and inspired of God, who
reveals the purpose of God and guides for faith, life and teaching.
- The Gospel is an offer from God for salvation and eternal
life to each individual human, and that the human have its one free will to reject or
accept this offer.
- The purpose of the Gospel are that the human shall
obtain fait in Jesus Christ and accept him as its Savior and Lord.
- Natural and true that a human let oneself be baptized after
conversion and accepted the faith in Jesus Christ. We call it believing
baptism. The
baptism is done with full submerging.
- The one who believe and become baptized, admits as member
in a local congregation, where she or he in faithfulness can act with those gifts and
opportunities as given of God. Each one can freely choose which church
she/he will belong
to.
- The Holy Ghost lives in all who believe in Jesus Christ,
and He gives power, happiness and love to live the life in Christ after the word of God.
- Freedom of thought, freedom of expression and religious
liberty are human rights who must not be outraged.
- The Church shall be separated from the
State.
