Prague 2003! It has been a tradition for the club to try to arrange a trip abroad every year, combining pleasure and chess! I have always wanted to visit Prague and as there was a big interest among some fellow club-members I contacted Michal Tochacek who I recently played in the Christoffel Memorial. Michal did a great job in facilitating the match and offer us very good rates at a superb **** de lux Andel's hotel! We played the games in a historical building on Friday evening and we also got some nice presents. There were two rounds of 20 minutes rapid chess. After each round we played a 5 minute blitz game. The first round started a little careful on our part and we lost 2,5 - 4,5. However we came back strong and won the second round and the blitz games convincingly. Results. Games. Some games are missing or incomplete! Pictures: Jim/Hans: front - back Helge/Oddmund, Knut After the match we had a nice celebration in a traditional restaurant where Helge had been several years ago. Fortunately he had reserved a table with Norwegian flags as there were in fact two other guests there too. We had some nice Norwegian SKÅL's - Oddmund and Marianne were particularly happy! Helge and Jim were contemplating their games, but decided they had every reason to be satisfied after a while! Helge was happy with his own cap! Knut was very proud of his new White Rabbit and Thor Geir helped him out with the local wine and Cognac!! The cognac-glasses were Viking-size! I was proud to try on the White Rabbit and drink a toast! Later that night we tried out the local venues. Father & son enjoyed the good offers, and on the way back there was no stopping allowed! Even a breakfast he managed to put up a smile! The Saturday night we were guided by Michal Tochacek through the exciting surroundings of the Prague Castle. (here with Anne Karin on the cable-line!) and Jim was also proud of his new Beaver(?). Afterwards we were all taken to a rematch in Beer-drinking at a local restaurant near the Karl's bridge! Michal did exceptionally well also with the pig-knuckle and looking at the bill we could see that Hans put a hard fight! The proud father seems to believe we have won! I was suffering from a bad cold put I found a nice remedy in the Tartare steak including a lot of fresh garlic and 10 pieces of toast! Sunday morning we were contemplating the sights around town including the Kafka cafe. Helge and Thor Geir and Knut & Hans. After the wild bunch had left Anne Karin and I enjoyed the local restaurants and came back on Monday!
