**When we have passed 2/3 off the season we find our beloved QPR about where we could excpect to find them at end-of-season. We dunt have to worry if we stay in this division, and we can already say that the Francis effect are presens in all parts of QPR. Not only on the field, but even in our economic situation we are "marching forward !"
Have someone heard something from Chris Wright lately ? Me neither ! So, even if it is "writen" that Chris Wright and the border is in charge of the club, i think the truth is a bit different. When Gerry Francis start to "play" it seems that booth chairmen and border starts to "dance". And from the qualities seen from that direction i find it easy to say "---and thats good----let it stay that way---"
**Back to the field. Stuart Wardley have done his things very well so fare and that have been necessary seen in the light off Gavin Peacock`s injury. I dunt say that i dunt want them booth on the pit at the same time, but on the contrary, young Wardley have done his best performance this season as Ranger. He has, nevertheless, a playing style that can make him "shine" as the season coninue. We have also noticed that the two players we recently got on loan, Ward and McGovern have played well.
I have been QPR supporter for more than 25 years now. I want to move some years backwards to take a look at some "highlights". I remember even today how Dean Neal scored 1-0 against Derby in 1975-76. It was my first TV broadcasted game ever. This goal must not be "mixed" with the legendary 5-1 away victory earlier in the same season, because QPR lost that game 2 minutes before full time. I can descibe that goal as well, but the goal didnt change my 88 minutes "love affair" for the club QPR. The Hoops and the colours on it- not to mention the fabolous name, makes this "love affair" stong - No matter what while happen in the future, this surely will last "unntil my dying day" - isnt it what Sir Cliff Richard sings in Bachelor Bay ??
** I have allways seen the value in persons that do not follow the "main stream" at any occations. And we have had several like that in QPR, and one of my favorites is the "bohem" Roy Wegerle. Who can forget his astonishing 3-2 goal against Leeds United at Ellen Road the season 1990/91. Control of the ball like Maradona. Seven white Leeds players spread on the field when Roy`s right foot sent the "leather" down at he right post from 18-meter. The Leeds keeper, John Lukic, poor man, didnt have arms long enough to stop the ball.
We dont forget the "maltreatment" of Luton Town with the numbers 6-1. Luton did not get into the game at all, much due to one man, Roy Wegerle. Trough all the match is was Wegerle with Luton on his heels. The goal against Leeds in the season 1990/91 was elected to "the goal of the year" in England, and the QPR Supporterclub of Scandinavia elected him to the "QPR player of the year. We even gave Wegerle a reward at the following pre-season in Avesta, Sweden. I have afterwards been given a photo from Kåre Svang showing Roy Wegerle when he gets his award from me. Im VERY proud of that photo.
** By tree occations i have been living at the camp in pre-season with QPR. I`ve had the impression that Roy Wegerle was a very nice person. Other players, the club, supporters and even the opponent team was found of him. One of my many dreams is to get the oppurtunity to get an interview with mr. Wegerle once in my lifetime.
At last i like to send greetings to the supporters that is going to Loftus Road on a trip in february. Im going to London myself from 8 - 13 March, so the next number of this magazine will contain lots of QPR news. Remember meanwhile to give ur vote to the best QPR player ever.
