Lillehammer 2001

Lillehammer Fair - Scott Reed sends us e-mail

Fellow Pin Traders:

Now that I have had a few days to thaw out and unpack from the Lillehammer show held a couple of weekends ago, I wanted to let everyone know about it.

Lillehammer is a long way from where I live in the USA, but it was well worth the travel! Norway is beautiful, and the Olympic museum in Lillehammer has some fantastic displays, including original winners medals from all the Olympic Games. It was cold----15^ below 0 at night, only 10^ below during the day---but there was no wind and little humidity, so it was actually pretty comfortable even for someone like me with thin southern blood!

Of course, most of the people there had Lillehammer items for sale and trade. Since I don't collect or have those items, I knew that I would only have pins that would be interesting to a small minority of people attending. But there were enough people there that I still sold and traded a good number of pins, mostly Sydney NOCs, Sydney Media, and SLC pins of any type. And I was able to find some items for my collection, including 4 participation medals (there were a lot more there, but that was all I could trade for or afford to buy), a couple of IOC session badges, some Sydney guest and media pins, and some other nice items such as a replica Lillehammer torch. I was happy!

There were a lot of other great items available that other people got. One person obtained a Lillehammer torch, while I understand someone else obtained a complete set---gold, silver, and bronze---of Oslo winner's medals.

It was fun to meet so many people that I have traded with over the internet but not met before, along with many new acquaintances. And there were 6-8 Americans there also that it was nice to see again. I have heard that Norwegians are very friendly, and they proved it! None of us could have asked for more pleasant or gracious hosts.

Next year the Lillehammer show will be soon after the SLC games, so it will be hard for most people who attend the SLC games to go to the Lillehammer show also. But if you can go, I would recommend it. It is a great vacation!

I have updated my web pages with some traders that I brought back, and some are also on E Bay. Please check them out at http://pages.prodigy.net/ser/noc.html or http://pages.prodigy.net/ser/auc.html . PLMK if you see anything of interest for purchase or trade.

Best Regards,

Scott

Over 80 hadde eget bord, derav 16 fra utlandet.

Produsert i 1400x, hvorav 300 nummererte
