Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH. Probably better known as simly: Alpina.
They are of the worlds most devoted to what they do - build cars.
Yes, that is what they do ! If you say Alpina is a tuner - Mr. Bovensiepen would take it as an insult. The Alpina story started about 35 years ago - in the sixties... |
The history.
|
Burkard Bovensiepen bought himself a Fiat 1500 in his days of studying. Disapointed of its performance he went to the Italian tuner, Nardi, for a tune up on the engine.
On his way back he started racing with a Lanica - and got even more disapointed as his Fiat colapsed !
|
The history of the name !
The breakthrough...
|
But then, one day - the very well known german car magazine, Auto Motor Und Sport, took one of Mr. Bovensiepen's cars for a test.
The result ? - A overwhelming positive article. Suddenly all BMW loving, speed loving young men wanted a BMW Alpina. The next year when BMW presented their 1800, Mr. Bovensiepen changed it's top, cam and the pistons. Alpina Burkard Bovensiepen GmbH. was born ! |
Apina on the race-track
|
As time went, BWM got even more sofisticated and Alpina followed - both in business and in racing.
Mr. Bovensiepen's policy took shape; not to race with anything he could not sell. BMW thought well of Alpina, and soon Alpina represented BMW more and more often in racing events. Alpina was honoured to introduce the BMW 2800 CS on the race-track and became very successfull. |
| Hi
there. I'm Glenn Larsen, and I'm proud to present
to you some photoes and numbers of the Alpina cars I find most exciting.
Even here, up in the cold north (Norway), the Alpina trade mark is well known among BMW people. Visiting Germany I took the trip to the small town of Buchloe to visit the legendary car producer. In fact - it was so interesting I did it twice in a year. Take a couple of minutes to view the exeptionel cars of Alpina. Maybe you will se some unique pictures taken by me? |
|
As you can see - I have sorted my pictures into three different categories.
In category one, (Factory trip), I hope you get an impression of the original plant in Buchloe. Secondly (Present Alpina's), I've choosen the Alpina's I found most exciting who is still in production. And finaly, third (Historic Alpina's), you will find earlyer produced cars, and what I really would call historic cars ! |
