About us

Sieggis
Sieggis

We are two sisters who come from Svolvær (Click here), a town of about 4500 inhabitants on an island in the island-chain "Lofoten" in the north of Norway. We grew up together with our middle brother, Odd-Aril, and our mum, Berit. Our first family-dog was "Stin", a mix between several different breeds (like Labrador, Norwegian Buhund and Norwegian Lundehund (puffin-dog)), and she lived till 15 years of age. Then we got a hunting-dog, "Auti" (Tråsletten's Auti G), a Breton/Brittany. She was put to sleep at 8, due to epilepsia and pyometra. Mum has now got a "Sami-dog", "Sieggis" (means extra-toes in sami), a "polar"-mix, bred for temperament and workingability by Sami-people in northern Scandianvia.

We now live in Oslo, the capital of Norway, both going to school. We share an apartment with 4 beautiful little IG-girls; Java, Bella, Sasha and Gloria.

Lena has always been fascinated by sighthounds, especially Italian Greyhound, Saluki and Borzoi. In 2002 she had the opportunity to finally get a dog, living in Oslo as a veterinary-student, and endend up on an IG! This was Java, the "unlucky girl", and she opened up a new world for us - the world of the Iggies! A year later, it was time to get a new iggie-girl to keep Java company - so Bella joined our little family. She's my introduction to dog-shows. She ended up way too tall, measuring 42 cm, but she still managed to get a CC. She's now retired from showing - both because of her size and her increased shyness towards strangers.

In autumn 2004, Marie also moved to Oslo for studies (interior decorating). She'd also become very found of the breed, and by chance ended up as a co-owner of Sasha (the bitch Lena had had an eye on to be the mother of her next iggie-girl!). Sasha immediately became the stabilizing factor in our little iggie-pack, making Java's life a lot easier. I'd mentioned to Evy (kennel Biscotti), the owner of Sasha, that I very much wanted a daughter (or granddaughter) of Sasha as my foundationbitch, and suddenly one day in spring 2005, she asked if I was serious about my wish - because there was a Sasha-daughter available from Sasha's second litter. Of course I was, and then Gloria entered our family as well.

We are now in the search of a good "kennelname", and we just had our first litter registerede under our friend Evy's kennel Biscotti.
