Genealogical Research, mainly in Middle and Northern Norway

Welcome to my site, that mainly deals with genealogy, which to me is hobby as well as profession. Here I will introduce myself a little bit, and my work to a much larger extent. I am also publishing here collections that may be of help to genealogy researchers, who are seeking ancestors or relatives, who may have appeared out of the blue, and/or disappeared into the blue. This is at least my hope. All this is of course from records of Middle and Northern Norway.

My work
For 22 years I have been helping people with their genealogy research, and to some extent by translating documents in German hand into modern print.
I have also collected information from the archives for local book committees and authors. Read more.
Middle Norway and Nordland 'My Area'
My working area is mainly determined by the records kept in the State Archive of Trondheim, for the districts of Møre & Romsdal, Sør-Trøndelag, Nord-Trøndelag and Nordland, which is the circled area on the map to the right. See more details on the page Archives and other Resources.
A few data bases
Here you will find my notes from the justice protocols on strays, etc, (only Norwegian text), and from the parish registers on Non-Norwegian visitors who have left illegitimate children in "My area" (only in English). These notes are not complete, and more will be added later. I also made lists of Non-Norwegians who died here. See: Fremmede, Foreign visitors and Foreign dead.
Background
I am M.A. with history as subsidiary object. I started doing genealogy as a hobby in 1968. I have been professional since 1979, full-time since 1983. See examples of my investigations and references to my publications.

I wish to express my gratitude to Mr. Jan Tuxen in Kerteminde in Denmark for his help and advice during the work on this web-site.
