The Sun shot with my new camera, a Canon Powershot S80, on Dec 3 2005.
Sunspot group AR 10652 is visible in this image of the Sun shot on July 24 2004, 05:58 UT. Single frame captured with an Olympus C5000 digital camera, afocal projection through a 26 mm eyepiece with a Baader fringe killer filter. The telescope was equipped with a full-aperture Baader solar filter and a 4-hole off-axis mask. The image is reduced to 50% of the original size.
The transit of venus across the face of the Sun on June 8, 2004, 05:26 UT. Single frame captured with an Olympus C5000 digital camera, afocal projection through a 26 mm eyepiece with a yellow eyepiece filter and a Baader fringe killer filter. The telescope was equipped with a full-aperture Baader solar filter.
05:46 UT. Afocal projection through a 7 mm eyepiece.
09:21 UT. Afocal projection through a 26 mm eyepiece, no eyepiece filters this time.
11:13 UT. Afocal projection through a 7 mm eyepiece.
The partial eclise of May 31, 2003. Single frame. "Quick and dirty" captured by handholding the webcamera (with lens) above a 26 mm eyepiece. Focus was very approximate, and the telescope was out of collimation, so the image is not very sharp.
The partial eclise of May 31, 2003. Average of 26 frames.
Mercury passing in front of the Sun on May 7, 2003. Unfortunately, the seeing was much worse than just a few days ago. Captured through a 2x barlow, a red eyepiece filter, and a full-aperture Baader sunfilter. Each image is a stack of 30-80 frames. 06:14 UT. Resolution 0.45"/pixel.
06:05 UT. Captured with 5x barlow.
05:49 UT
05:38 UT. Captured with 5x barlow.
05:23 UT
05:16:51 - 05:17:06 UT, approximately.
05:16:34-50 UT, approximately.
Sunspot NOAA10349 captured 5 May, 2003, 06:06 UT, through a 5x barlow, a red eyepiece filter, and a full-aperture Baader sunfilter. About 200 of 1000 frames stacked. 0.17"/pixel.
Sunspot NOAA10349 captured 4 May 2003, 06:00 UT, through a 5x barlow, a green narrowband filter, and a full-aperture Baader sunfilter. 124 of 700 frames stacked. 0.17"/pixel.
Sunspot NOAA10349 captured 3 May 2003, at 06:00UT, through a 5x barlow, a red eyepiece filter, and a full-aperture Baader sunfilter. 165 frames stacked of 4600 captured. 0.17"/pixel. Seeing was very good in moments.
Sunspot NOAA10349 captured 2 May, 2003, 06:10 UT, through a 2X barlow, a red eyepiece filter, and a full-aperture Baader sunfilter. ~350 frames stacked. Resolution 0.45"/pixel. The seeing was good this morning, and the tracking platform sure makes things easier.
April 29 2003. First sun picture with tracking. Captured with 2x Barlow, a yellow eyepiece filter, and a full-aperture Baader sunfilter. About 350 frames averaged.
December 22 2002. Captured in prime focus with the green narrowbandfilter described in Observing the Sun. Colorized.
June 5 2002. Not very sharp.
May 18 2002. Nice sunspot group. The seeing was mediocre, so the resolution and contrast is not very good.
