Some photos from around Crete. Taken with a Canon EOS camera and Fuji slide film. Shot summer and autumn 2002.
The Teleport as a birding scope! This buzzard (Buteo buteo) was sitting on a power line about 150 m away. My ornithologist friend Milica tells me this is the most common raptor species in Europe. Shot from inside my bedroom through the open door to the balcony, Aug 31 2002. 10 second video (DivX 5.0.2). Here is a larger image.
Comet Ikeya-Zhang Mar 23 2002.
Same as above, but processed to bring out some of the tail.
A good example of bad lighting. The round lamps send most of the light upwards. The small lights at the ground serve not apparent purpose. The road lights are also not strictly necessary, since the small piece of road is hardly ever used by anyone. All activity is on the opposite side of the building. The lights shine all night at an empty building. This is where I work. And Greece is supposed to be a poor country?
