Los Angeles. The day of the dead. Father and son witness a murder. A terrible crime silenced their voices. Now the Father has come back to break the silence.
"People once believed that when someone dies, a crow carries the soul to the land of the dead. But sometimes a crow can bring that soul back to put the wrong things right. I thought Eric was the last. -I never thought there would be another.."

The Crow returns, to put the wrong things right. In "City of Angels" the name of the undead avenger is Ash, after he and his son were killed by the tyrant Judah Earl and his gang, he's now returning to kill the killers. Were as the original "the Crow" was centered around the love story of Eric and Shelly, this time it's more a family matter. Ash was a singlefather, living alone with his son after the mother died as a drug addict. Suddenly one night the two bare witness to an execution performed by the Judah Earl gang. They are seen and also executed, then dumped in the water. Returning from the first movie is Sarah, now all grown up, she works as a tattoo artist. Living alone with her cat Gabrielle (he has more than nine lives!) she senses something is wrong and the crow guides her to Ash's resurection. Understanding what has to be done she helps Ash to realize what he has to do to be united with his son. In a society plagued by anarchy and disease a cure is on his way with revenge on his mind and a mask on his face.

Were the first movie was loved by many the world over, this one is equally disliked all over the world. Why could this be? The difference between this movie and the first Crow movie is that this one does not have the dark gothic atmosphere that made the original the cult movie it is today. Instead the scenario is changed to a more punk related, drug infested, sadistic and post-nuclear future. This makes the story a little less believable and the viewer has more diffuculty relating to the circumstances. The performances of the actors aren't that bad, they do the best they can, but for Vincent Perez to live up to the part made imortal by the late Brandon Lee is more than impossible. He plays the part very good, but he lacks Brandon Lee's ability to portray sadness, confusion, anger and madness all at once. This is what made the original crow movie so unbelievably good and a cult movie. This upcomming summer the new crow movie will be released; "The Crow; Salvation" which is film number three in the crow saga. It is said to have a totally different approach to the story and is promising to be a new hit at the cinemas everywhere.
