*************************** GEDCOM Estimator 1.1 beta What's New? *************************** 15/01/01: Some issues have arisen since version 1.0 was completed in May 2000, and hence there was a need for an updated version. Version 1.1 beta introduces the following changes and new features: - Version 1.0 was able to read both new and old style year ranges in the input file (new style is "BET xxxx AND yyyy", old style is "xxxx/yyyy"), but output would always be in the new style. Version 1.1 introduces an option in the options window where you can choose whether you want the output to use old or new style year ranges. This is introduced because some of the genealogy database systems around still don't support the new style year ranges. - The message reporting during estimation has been improved. Some things are done in a different order (message about negative year ranges is now given before the error subsets are saved) and the messages in the status window have been improved. For example, "#"-symbols are printed in a progress-bar style during the estimation itself (one symbol for each iteration) and when saving error subsets (one symbol for each subset). - Old style dates (not year ranges) of the form xxxx/yy (e.g. 1712/13), as used in some countries prior to year 1800 are now supported in the input file. The estimator will interpret them as the second year (e.g. 1713 if the date is 1712/13). - Keywords followed by a punctation mark (e.g. "ABT." instead of just "ABT") are now supported in the input file.
