a word on my music...

I'm a european and my musical roots are european too (both east and the west). If any - the british music to some extent have influenced my way of thinkin'. Too much of todays popular music is related to America - I have nothing against american music as such mind you - but I hope my own work stands out as being a product of Europe and nowhere else.

The cadenza on which most popular music is based - is european. Never forget that ;-)

Collab One:

This Is For Real

The internet can be used for collaborating with other musicians. The following tune is an experiment on the possibilities. With some internetfriends (whm I've neover met in my life) we made the tune This Is For Real using an ftp for uploading files containing the various tracks of instruments. A private forum was set up for us to discuss the tune as it were put together.

The tune is a crossover between rap and progrock. So it's sort of an experiment on musical style as well.

You will be hearing the following artists:

Clootie: Intro Grunge Bass, Intro pad, Pizzicato strings
Czeka: Rap, SFX
2bobguy: Clavithingy on choruses
Fukwit: "live"drum loops, logdrum-synth
Eivind Fivelsdal: Vocals, Evil-voice, Church-organ, Strings, Synths, Leadguitar, Bass, "Hammond", Rythmguitar, Filtered rythm-loops

I'm also responsible for stitchin' the track together and the overall production.

Czkea the rapper is based in Canada. He's also responsible for writing the rap-lyrics. You will also notice that at the end of the tune I use some of those lyrics for the singin' parts as well. Clootie lives in UK and myself - as you know - I'm in Norway.

Geek Lullaby

The Geek Lullaby is an experimental synthesizer melody. Somewhere in the area between retro electronica and progrock.

X-masgifts 2003

Eivind Fivelsdal wrote this song back in the early 80's. It was on the album No Reason To Feel Blue with Small Affars, but then in a uncomfortable 4/4-version. Eivind has recently recorded the song the way it originally was intended. The 7/4-version rocks along and gives the lyrics a natural place, as they are natural to the rythm.

There's now a newly mastered version to be downloaded.

Lord Of The Rings -

A Shadow Of The Past

Eivind Fivelsdal wrote this song back in 1983. It was featured on the FoXTROT-album by the same name. Originally Fivelsdal wanted to write music to the words of Tolkien, but Anders Lind at Silence studios in Sweden who had collaborated with Bo Hansson (Who's music Lord Of The Rings became quite big), told Fivelsdal that Tolkiens relatives were quite strict on their rights and very hard to negotiate with.

Fivelsdal approached Lord Of The Rings by writing a song about reading the book. Like no other song related to Lord Of The Rings, A shadow Of The Past captures the journey from hobbiton to the mountain of doom. It has a very acient feel indeed.
