Pictures Of The PastWe've managed to get hold of some old photographs from the early 80's. There's still a lot of digging to do. If you happen to have an old photo of Scandinavia/Foxtrot around, don't hestitate to send it to us. |

The legendary X-mas-show of 1981. Scandinavia brought theatre, dancers and grand progrock onto the Norwegian rockscene. Rewievers where overwhelmed and called this quote: "The best Norwegian popshow of all times - ever." From the left: Jan-Håkon Skarpsno on drums - put more correctly this was a set of Remo Rototoms with double Tama bassdrums and Paiste and Zildjan cymbals, Werner Grini on his doublenecked Ibanez with an Ovation acoustic in the background, actor Henning Bredesen (and yes that is a real gun in his hands!), Michael Sundt on his Fender Precision bass (stomping the mighty Moog Taurus), and Eivind Fivelsdal on keyboards and vox (the instruments in view are Yamaha CP-70 Electric Grand, with a Minimoog on top, ARP-Omni 2 with the MiniKorg 700S on top. At the back there was Crumar electronic piano and Per Nordengens Korg CX3 organ and a Roland ProMars. The situation on the photo is from the song MotherDearMother where, in the midsection, Scandinavia played a medley of old James Bond-songs and ofcourse the JB-theme. (sharper photos needed please!) |

The Bridge. From the same concert. Here you get a good view of the Scandinavia bridge in it's up-position. This was a mechanical construction that, when lowered, became a highway leading into the horizon on the screen behind. The backdrops was used to illude a cityskyline. The whole thing was constructed in modules from a model made by Eivind. Apart from the birdge's base it was fairly lightweight and portable. The winch used for lowering the bridge was capable of lifting 5000 kilograms (5 tons).
The dark figure in front of the upright bridge is Death himself. At this particular occasion portrayed by actor Henning Bredesen. Still we see Michael Sundt stomping those basspedals. |
