THE
ART
Technique
All
of my artwork is based on pictures found on the internet.
I
start by working the internet 72 dpi picture with Photoshop.
When I am satisfied with the composition, light and colour,
I start the "digital painting" process, wich
is to re-paint the whole surface of the digital image
while doing several upgrades in resolution until I have
a file that can be printed in the size I want. The pictures
you see in this website are the result of this first step
My
second step is to print the picture in paper or canvas
and from there I work with real paint using crayons, brushes,
or whatever I need to achieve my desired results.
Another thing that helps the final result is the diferent
layers of varnish that I apply with brush.
The final result looks a little like oil painting.
This
technique allows me to make several copies of the same
picture, but they all end up a little diferent from each
other due to the manual painting process. I sign and number
every copy I make.
I
started to work with this kind of pictures in 2000 but
only started to print and paint them in May 2002. After
tuning the print and painting techniques I have started
to exibith and sell them.
The
pictures that I use to work are by anonimous
fotografers and models I intend to continue
making my work based on this kind of found pictures. I have
no problems with copyright because my final result is
something completely diferent from the original image.
Theme
I
am influenced by a lot of classical painters and I don´t
repress those influences. In doing so I am also "calling"
the spectator to recognise familiar aspects in images
that could originaly be considered "unconfortable"
for the viewer.
