Bjønnåsen's /
Bjonnasen is a small mother/daughter
cattery,
run by me Alfrida (
mother ) and Evy ( daughter ).
We live in Hurdal, 80 km north of
Oslo, in Norway.
Alfrida's first cat was a
Tortie Colorpoint Persian which I
bought in 1972,
the following year I
bought a Black & White Norwegian
Forest Cat.
The pre-fix Bjønnåsen's
was registered in FIFe 1975, and I
had my first litter of kittens the
same year.
I continued breeding
Colorpoints and Norwegian Forest
Cats until 1980,
when I had to put my
activity on hold due to a health
problem .
However I always had
one or two cats as pets.
Evy, started her own
breeding, under the FIFé pre-fix (N)
Gorbie's in 1989,
she started with a
White Persian and a Calico Norwegian
Forest Cat,
and was active with
her pre-fix until 1996.
One special cat from
this cattery has meant a lot to us
in Bjønnåsen's Cattery,
(N) Gorbie's Harley
Davidson ( Black Persian boy ).
After Evy closed down her cattery, I
bought a Persian female for company,
(N) Rosendal's Minken
( Tortie Smoke ) she developed
nicely,
and was mated to (N)
Gorbie's Harley Davidson.
This mating gave us
CFA GP/DW & FIFé PR/EC. Bjønnåsen's
E-Mail,
a red smoke Persian
boy that we kept,
he has done very well
at shows, and also given us
some lovely offspring's .
He is the first
Norwegian cat gaining the title GP/DW
in CFA,
something we are very
proud of !
This was the
beginning of our love for the
sparkling Smokes...
So after 19 years I was back on the
scene as a breeder,
but this time with
Persians and Exotics, and now
assisted by my daughter.
Evy is the one that takes our cats
to shows,
she's also the one
who knows the pedigrees and builds
our breeding program.
All in all, Bjønnåsen's has turned
into a family-business,
and from May 2003 she
joined as a co-owner of the pre-fix Bjønnåsen's,
approved by FIFé.
In June 2007 the
history turned again, when Evy
decided to go one step further and
join CFA.
She left the Bjønnåsen's
prefix, and took Bjonnasen as her
CFA prefix,
and Bjønnåsen's
is again the property of Alfrida.
Our main interest
is to breed smokes in different
colours,
but we also have solids, including
whites, one tabby, and in 2006 we
added some lovely bi-colour lines
too, all this in hope of breeding
better smokes
Bjønnåsen's / Bjonnasen is a non-cage cattery,
and we breed from PKD-DNA
tested cats only
There are so many
people we would like to thank, but
mentioning them all is not possible,
since we've been in
this Fancy for so many years...,
but some of them we
will forever be grateful to, and
they know who they are :).
