Emmett goes on record August 06, 2004
BELINDA Emmett has realised the dream of a lifetime - to record a duet with her idol, Marcia Hines. The pair, who met at Carols in the Domain in 2002, have recorded James Taylor's Shower the People for Hines' new album Hinesight.
The much-loved Australian Idol judge and veteran performer said she only wanted two duet partners to appear on the album, Emmett and Cold Chisel's Ian Moss.
"Belinda has been on my mind since I met her at Carols in The Domain two years ago," Hines said yesterday.
"Everyone was rehearsing and I was sitting in the girls' dressing room when I heard someone singing on stage with one of the most pure voices I have ever heard.

"I walked out towards the stage to see who it was and there was Belinda ... She told me she was a huge fan." Idol's musical director John Foreman, who produced the Hinesight album, approached Emmett to join the project. "Unfortunately because of our schedules and Belinda being in Melbourne and me in Sydney, we weren't able to sing it together," Hines said. "But when I heard her vocals, it took my breath away ... her contribution was even greater than I hoped it would be." Emmett has proclaimed herself Hines' biggest fan.
"I was so flattered to be asked to sing with Marcia and so honoured to be on an album with someone I have admired for so long," she said.
