The Bergen Grand Tournament 2008, Norway, 18.-20. of January 2008

The Bergen Academic Bridge Club hereby invites all bridge friends to our well-established Bergen Grand Tournament, a tournament with international, national and local participants.

Bergen
is the second largest city of Norway, a charming old Hanseatic town, built in the 11th century. It is located in magnificent surroundings and represents the gateway to the beautiful fjords on the western coast of Norway. Bergen is one of the most popular tourist attractions in our country, a university centre with a rich history and great variety of cultural activities. Its special charm and atmosphere have made Bergen known all around the world - we strongly recommend that you visit Bergen and experience this special town yourself!

The Bergen Academic Bridge Club
The tournament is organised by The Bergen Academic Bridge Club (founded in 1967), one of Norway’s largest and leading bridge clubs. We have representatives on the national teams in ALL classes. Among our members you will find well-known players like Boye Brogeland and Erik "Silla" Saelensminde, Thomas Charlsen as well as Martin Andresen, Captain of National soccer team.

The Tournament
The Tournament will be played in two groups: the Elite (Internationals & Champions, 1^st /2^nd Division etc. and experienced players in group A. The tournament takes place at the SCANDIC Hotel Bergen City and Bergen Kongress Senter, in the centre of Bergen.

Main Tournament start: January 19 ^st at 11.00 am. Registration from 10.00 am.

Prize giving ceremony no later than 17.00, possibly 16.00.

Auction Tournament will take place on friday 18th

Friday18^th , registration on Internet, doors open 18.00 Auction starts at 18.15

Fees: all € conversions: Currency values (pt. 1 € = 8,00 NOK)

Top players 100 € (800 NOK)
Experienced players 62.5 € (500 NOK)
In the Elite group the 1. prize 20.000 NOK (2.500€) if 52 pairs:
¼ of participants will receive cash prizes

In the A-group the first prizes will be (if 42 pairs): (to be decided:6.000 NOK)
