IS THERE NO END TO THE LIES SATHYA SAI BABA TELLS TO ENHANCE HIMSELF?
SAI'S CONTINUAL 'VAHINI' OF DECEITS
Presumably because Sai Baba discourses have become so boring and repetitive, Sanathana Sarathi has now dredged up old repetitive harangues of his from 2002, as well as photos which show a former Sai Baba, not the increasingly decrepit looking present form. In the October 2003 issue, where Sai Baba's serves up the old hat we know so well, we read: "Speak truth, speak pleasantly and do not speak unpalatable truth" (p. 296). Unpalatable to whom? Almost every truth will be unpalatable to someone or other... so following his advice would mean that no one could be questioned about anything, or be charged with unpalatable truths and brought to justice etc. However, one can understand that Sai Baba finds the truth about himself unpalatable and unpleasantly said. Then he also says: " you may be tempted to utter falsehood. But never tell a lie even if you have to sacrifice your life." (p.303). That is truly rich coming from him, who has practiced so many deceits, including the following...
He said in a discourse see http://www.sathyasai.org/discour/2003/d031005.html) "Many of you are anxious, thinking that Swami is not keeping good health over the last few days. In fact, My health is very good. Real health is not related to the body.... If you think that Swami is strong and healthy, yes so He is. There is no weakness in Me. My angas (limbs) may appear to be weak . If you identify Me with the body, I cannot walk even two steps." (5/10/2003) This is the same Almighty God who recently bragged that his hip was completely healed exclusively by the prayers of his devotees!
It was reported earlier on the web that, "Swami then told Mr. Sundareshan, the orthopedic Surgeon who had performed the operation to Bhagawan to speak to us on the incident. Mr. sundereshan said ? Swami had started walking after 5 days of the operation which is also impossible for any human being." But Sai Baba himself said later "After the surgery, I was able to walk within three days." (Sanathana Sarathi July, 2003, p. 218). Not only that, but he boasted in Sanathana Sarathi July, 2003, that his recovery was far quicker than any human being could achieve, according to his inordinate boasting (while countless hip-replacement patients stand on the day of operation and walk fully within weeks, as any proper web search of medical institutions will reveal)! "For anybody else, it would have taken at least two to three years to walk normally. The ball in the hip joint got separated." p.230 "The doctors said that one year's rest was required for the hip injury to heal completely. I told them it would not take one year." p.259. Why still the golf wagon, why not normal full-length darshans and interviews etc.? Many will surely find more self-deceiving rationalisation for that.
On of his most despicable lies was in the 'unforgiving Christmas discourse' in 2000 (a time to celebrate the greatest teacher of forgiveness in history!!) where he accused many identifiable persons saying, "Why are they doing this propaganda? Even this bad propaganda is for money. All these bad thoughts are for money only. Even these bad thoughts are for money only Switzerland, America, Japan, Germany, China, Russia - our children have entered in all directions. Some foreigners are trying to bribe them. They are saying, "See, foolish ones! I will give this much money. I will give so many dollars. I will give this many pounds. You write and give some stories against Sathya Sai Baba." Of course, neither Sai Baba nor any of his lackeys has been able to present a single shred of evidence to support this cheap and transparent lie. In lying thus, did Sai Baba follow his own advice to speak pleasantly and not unpalatably?
That Sathya Sai Baba spreads rumour and deceives just as it suits him is nothing new, for one of many examples of a massive exaggeration of his own popularity by Sai Baba was published in his monthly journal Sanathana Sarathi:
"Such an attraction as this is possible only in the case of Divinity. The fragrance of divinity is spreading all through the world. Argentina is a far off country. Today Bhajans are going on in every house in Argentina. In Miami, the military officers are participating in Bhajans. You might have read in the newspapers that six months ago those officers took a vow to replace the present government with the Sathya Sai government. The authorities thought that officers had gone mad and sent them to a mental asylum. The officers converted the doctors and the nurses and even the patients into devotees." (Discourse, 20 October, 1990).
This is based on flimsy newspaper reports from abroad that someone had mentioned to Sai Baba (a report which can no longer be traced) and even so Sai Baba's reported words were made even less confused than his actual tape-recorded words by V.K. Narasimhan, who explained to me in detail how he translated and edited this. Sai Baba had confused two different incidents from entirely different countries in the region and made it all into one unlikely story. Though I was somewhat confounded to hear this from someone so very close to Sai Baba for so long, I was then far gone as a self-indoctrinating believer and thought this falsification of his words probably for the best, all in all! I have had countless opportunities to observe how most devotees think thus most of the time when they cannot entirely avoid obvious or other unpalatable facts about Sai Baba.Sai Baba will presumably continue to lie 'until blue in the face', and still claim that he is giving away 'diamonds' when they are not. He will never admit the truth about them, which I know with 100% certainty in the case of a large 'green diamond' he gave me (expecting a fat donation I had mentioned), so what would become of him according to his own teaching? It is fascinating to observe and study how so many credulous persons try to sustain their complete faith in him now that so many indubitable facts have come to light. But much in which they had faith is most likely as crippled as Sai Baba is himself, and many are wracked within by private sufferings that have to be denied on his 'divinely instructive example'. But the truth protects those who face it!
Here we also have his word from his favourite translator and (unwitting?) spreader of untruth, Anil Kumar, that Prof. N. Kasturi lived for 100 years!
|
They Lived For 100 Years "Bhagavan was telling us the other day that those who lived here with Him lived for 100 years, every one of them. He gave an example of Professor Kasturi. When Bhagavan went to see him, He asked him to go for a health check-up. Kasturi answered, Swami, I'm fine. Why should I go for a health check up? Bhagavan told him just like that: Go! Have your blood pressure checked. Thats all! Kasturi went there and Bhagavan went to the hospital to see him, giving Kasturi instructions for the rest of the things to follow. The caretaker of the Mandir in those days was Kutumba Rao. (Swami must have given him instructions to arrange for a cremation procession.) He asked, Swami, why do you want me to arrange to carry a dead body? Swami said, No, no, no. Dont ask. Just follow My instruction. As Kutumba Rao was making the procession arrangements, the news came that Kasturi expired. Thats it. Kutumba Rao had not been aware of Kasturis impending death. Bhagavan was also telling us the other day about Kamadhani, who also
lived for 100 years." |
Prof. N. Kasturi began his autobiography Loving God with the words "This time, I inhaled the Breath of God on Christmas Day, 1897."
His successor as editor of Sanathana Sarathi, V.K. Narasimhan, wrote (September 1987, p. 260) that death came to him (Kasturi) on August 14 at noon and that he was 90."
What Narasimhan did not write, but told me, was that Kasturi complained bitterly of his terrible sufferings from throat cancer for the 6 weeks he lay on his deathbed (unvisited by Sai Baba except very near the end). That Kutumba Rao was unaware of Kasturi's long bedridden suffering and likelihood of impending death is simply not credible!
V.K. Narasimhan, who died March 19th, 2000, did not reach the magic 100 years either. At the age of 87, having lost an eye which Sai Baba was unable or unwilling to cure, and then having lost his wife some years later, my dear old friend Narasimhan passed away on March 9th, 2000, after a lengthy period of much suffering in hospital with water on the lungs.
The extravagent untruthful claim in the above that "those who lived here with Him lived for 100 years, every one of them." can easily be refuted. A friend of mine, Judge Damodar Rao, who had resided close to Sai Baba for decades, died long before reaching his century. Likewise, the above-mentioned Kutumb Rao, who was Sai Baba's close servitor and Head of Prashanthi Nilayam Ashram. After being sent away for a period, Kutumb Rao returned to his post in 1989, but suffered from internal cancers. He was sent to Madras and opened up, but closed again as a hopeless case beyond surgery. He suffered much for a long period and died around 1990, many years before he reached 100 years of age.
On the basis of the above, it is also doubtful whether the engineer and servitor of Sai Baba in the 1970s, Kamadhani, lived to 100 years. On November 8th, 1997, Sai Baba referred to the death that day of a genuine centenarian, Swami Karunyananda, who had been with Sai Baba for forty years. On the very same day another one who lived with Sai Baba for 40 years died, the pujari of the Prashanthi Nilayam mandir, Padmanabha Shastri. Padmhanabha reportedly did not get at all near to the 100-year milepost! Moreover, Sai Baba stated:
"During the last three months I had been advising Padmanabha Sastri to realise that his is a diabetic patient. 'The wound in your leg is getting worse. Ultimately amputation may be unavoidable. You are neglecting your leg. Heed my words.'. I was repeatedly warning him, he was consuming sweet things like paayasam and laddus. Today his blood pressure rose to 400 and he had a severe heart attack. You can see what happens when Swami's advice is ignored." (Sanathana Sarathi 11/1997, p. 299 & Sathya Sai Speaks Vol 30, page 231) It is clear that Sai Baba says whatever suits his whims to try to enhance his importance. Since many people believe him to be what he claims, they take seriously all his glib standard promises to persons like, 'Long life, healthy life, happy life', or 'I will heal', 'I will look after everything' or whatever he says... even though many of these 'divine promises' simply do not hold up on inspection. The accounts of Sai Baba's apparently all-knowing interventions and comments which are vague as to checkable information (such as Anil Kumar excels at on the above-referenced website) are not backed by any evidence from the published case notes or written declarations of known doctors, but rather seem to be amateurishly 'doctored' texts. One only has the enthusiastic and pre-convinced raconteur to rely on in practically all instances. It is nearly all just a case of more belief for committed believers. In any case, the critical literature is growing replete with documented examples of Sathya's Asathya.
Sathya Sai Baba warns people about the danger of telling lies, for example:-
"... indulging in falsehood is a tortuous process. One has to take a lot of trouble to cover up one lie with more lies." (Sathya Sai Speaks Vol. 21, p. 214)
Well, he seems to know this from experience... he should do, if anyone does!
More fat 'porkies':
Sai Baba has often insisted that his weight has remain at (the divine number of) 108 lbs (how quaintly absurd). He evidently forgot that he had also said in a discourse: Swami started eating rice food which students take. He lost 6 kg in weight during 20 days stay at Kodaikanal. In Puttaparthi, Satyajit was in the habit of taking My weight now and then. When Swami was in Puttaparthi He weighed 108 lbs. At Kodaikanal, when weight was taken, it showed a reduction by 6 kilos. Swami weighed less than 100 lbs. (Sanathana Sarathi, June 1998, page 146.)
All typical stuff from Sai Baba. Body weight also changes during each day, 2 lbs beings the difference between, say, before and after drinking water and eating a light meal? Water weights 2.2lbs. per litre, and Sai Baba has also warned everyone that they should drink at least 6 glasses of water daily in the hot climate of Southern India... which is at least another kg.
In Sanathana Sarathi, Nov. 1998, he is quoted as saying in connection with fruit offerings to him at the Paduka pooja: Do they think I am Kumbakarna? I do not even take meals, then what are the fruits for. But those who doubt his appetite for food and fruit should take a look at the visual proof pictures at http://members.tripod.com/saisat0/pics3.htm
Sai Baba also told V.K. Narasimhan in 1998 that he had not had his hair cut for 20 years either! However, photos taken of Sai Baba through that period show clearly that (around 1993/4??) his hair was suddenly seen to be almost 1/3 of the volume it normally had. Then it slowly grew out again. I was present at the ashram at that time and observed this closer crop of his hair. So Sai Baba can tell anything he likes, whether true or not, accurate or not, and get away with it but only among his confirmed and fully paid-up followers!
